This project is located at FHR’s Umutara Deaf School (UDS) in the Nyagatare District of Rwanda’s Eastern Province and provides vocational training for deaf students. Vocational training courses are then provided to deaf children keen to learn a specific trade or for whom placement in secondary education would be unlikely to succeed. The current three-course options are masonry, tailoring and hairdressing, taking the students through Levels 1 and 2 of the TVET vocational training curriculum.
